Meaning ‘Riverside Cottage’, Bwthyn Glan yr Afon is a delightful, 18th century, stone built cottage in a quiet residential lane with views across the river opposite towards countryside and encompassing the Manod mountains with a back drop of the Moelwyn mountains, in the village of Tanygrisiau, Nr. Blaenau Ffestiniog. Successfully renovated and retaining much original character, Bwthyn Glan yr Afon boasts a welcoming  sitting room with an impressive stone Inglenook fireplace with warming multi-fuel stove, creating a cosy relaxing atmosphere, separate well equipped kitchen, downstairs bathroom and 2 bedrooms upstairs. Surrounded by wonderful mountains, Bwthyn Glan yr Afon is perfect for lovely scenic walks and mountain biking, or enjoying outdoor pursuits such as canoeing and climbing at Plas y Brenin National Mountain Centre, bike trails at Coed-y-Brenin, one of the best mountain bike centres in Britain, discovering the magnificent slate caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog, or visiting bustling Porthmadog with its individual shops, inviting eateries and colourful marina. With the enormous beach at Black Rock Sands, the picturesque National Trust Bodnant Gardens and the majesty of Mount Snowdon all within easy reach, Bwthyn Glan yr Afon is the perfect, all year round holiday retreat. The cottage is away from the main thoroughfare, and with no passing traffic makes it a ‘perfect getaway from it all’ location. There are some fantastic walks, lakes & waterfalls from the cottage, and the area is great for fishing and golfing. The Lakeside café is only a 2 minute walk from the cottage and the village pub is about a 20 minute walk away.

The slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is only 1.5 miles away and offers an array of eating establishments, pubs, shops, chemist, garage & leisure centre/swimming pool. Blaenau Ffestiniog is also the home to the World Famous Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Steam railway which links to the harbour town of Porthmadog.

 

Features & Facilities include:

•         The lounge is warm & welcoming with a real feel of Olde world charm & character. Exposed beams are throughout the lounge and the exposed stone inglenook houses a multi fuel stove which is set on a slate hearth.

•         Separate fitted kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker/grill, gas hob, extractor hood, microwave, fridge with icebox and washer/ dryer.

•         Downstairs bathroom with bath, shower attachment over, low level WC and basin. Well appointed and modern in design.

•         LPG central heating throughout

•         Complimentary bottle of wine & welcome gift on arrival

•         Electricity, LPG & starter pack of fuel for Multi fuel stove included

•         2 well behaved dogs welcome (please bring own dog beds and towels)

•         Upstairs are 2 bedrooms, the double bedroom is light & airy with delightful views across the river and fields towards mountainous scenery and the single bedroom has an additional pull out guest bed, so can accommodate 2 people.

•         Bed Linen, towels and tea towels are all provided, together with the following ‘consumables’:  Washing up liquid, washing up brush, cloth & sponge, washing powder/liquid, dishcloths, and tea towels. Liquid soaps by washbasins, toilet roll and bin bags. We also provide a small supply of Tea, Coffee & Sugar and a selection of Herbal & Fruit Teas. There is also a condiment set of Salt, Pepper & Vinegar, and a small selection of assorted herbs & spices.

•         Off road parking for 1 car opposite cottage, additional parking on first come first served basis in allocated parking bay opposite cottage.

•         Lakeside Café only a 2 minute walk & pub is approximately a 20 minute walk. The nearby town of Blaenau Ffestiniog offers an array of shops, eating establishments & pubs.

•         Strictly No Smoking

•         LCD TV/DVD/CD with FreeSat, iPod dock & a good selection of DVD’s, books, games, puzzles and toys for the children.

•         Broadband / WiFi

•         There is a small enclosed rear yard, and an enclosed gated front garden, a great spot to enjoy evening drinks after a day spent enjoying the wonderful scenery and numerous outdoor pursuits the area has to offer.
